Re-elected to office in 2014, Bob Long is currently serving his sixth consecutive term as Councillor in The Township of Langley, located just west of Abbotsford in the Fraser Valley.

Born on Robbie Burns Day in England in 1957, Bob came to British Columbia in 1968. His experiences are rather vast as an entrepreneur. In 1978, at just 22 years old, Bob founded a local community weekly newspaper, then in 1986 he started a career in the printing industry and at the same time his interest in live music took him on North American tours as a sound engineer. His most recent ventures include owning and operating restaurants.

Since his election to local government in 1999, Bob has served over 10 years on the national board of the FCM, standing committee chair and BC caucus chair. Long has held executive positions on regional and provincial organizations including UBCM and LMLGA.

" FCM has come such a very long way since I attended my first meetings in 2000, it is considered an essential partner with the federal government in building a better Canada ~ a role that only local government can fulfil as the closest to citizens we all serve" say's Long.
